Tearing Down the Wall
I have created a new website called, “Deaf and Learning Disabilities” to raise awareness of deaf and learning disabilities.
I am a deaf adult who also has learning disabilities. I was diagnosed with learning disabilities which includes a visual-spatial processing disorder and slow processing speed, once in high school and confirmed again in college. My 14-year old Deaf daughter just diagnosed with learning disabilities. We have a similar diagnosis, as it is hereditary. See the link of my “Tearing Down the Wall” story to better understand the effects of the visual processing disorder.
I have also created a Facebook Group, "Deaf and Learning Disabilities" to build a network for parents who are seeking resources for their deaf and hard of hearing child who has a learning disability and/or ADHD. The purpose of the group is to collect, expand and share research, resources, and learning strategies for deaf and hard of hearing students with learning disabilities and/or ADHD. Teachers, counselors, psychologists and any interested individuals are welcome to join as well.
Whenever I update my website postings, I will inform you on Facebook and you can go to the website to see the new posting.
Thanks for visiting this website and I hope to see you on the Facebook Group.
